Meet the interns

Meet the 2020-2021 reference interns!

Clara Posner, Psychology 22′

I’m a junior psychology major at Carleton College! After spending the summer working on Carleton’s COVID-19 Archive and assisting different Northfield nonprofits with data entry projects, I discovered my interest in pursuing a career related to digital curation. I chose this internship because I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about library science, and work on projects that would prepare me for a future in this field of study. This fall I will be working on a variety of projects, including researching and producing a Panopto video about Open Access Week with my fellow intern Owen Schuster, which introduces students to this event and some of the resources Carleton has related to open access. I will also be researching previous pandemics to help build a course research guide.

Owen Schuster, History 22′

I am a junior history major and Medieval and Renaissance minor here at Carleton. Some of my hobbies include unicycling, pole vaulting, reading, and walking on my hands. I have a pet fish and four cacti, all of which travel with me to and from school. I chose this internship for a few reasons: first, I thought it would be a great opportunity to gain deeper insight into the functioning of an academic library, especially since the library is my favorite building on campus, and, more specifically, how scholarly research is done. Second, I was excited to work with fellow students as well as reference librarians at the reference desk. Throughout the fall, I will be working on a variety of projects encompassing research for Open Access Week, which will culminate in a video defining open access and its significance. I will also be conducting research on various pandemics in history that will be contributed to a library guide for a class called Covid-19 and Globalization. Finally, I will assist with editing existing library guides.
